As part of our 20th Anniversary Thrill Jockey wanted to celebrate the significance of the contributions of Poster Artists to our advocacy of our artists. To celebrate their contribution we have comissioned an exclusive set of limited-edition Silk Screened posters. The Artists were given no directives at all, just told to create any poster they would like. It does not have to mention Thrill Jockey or our 20th birthday, although several do. Thrill Jockey will not be keeping any of the proceeds generated by these posters - 100% goes back to the artists.
The second poster available is from Sonnenzimmer.
Signed and numbered edition of 50 5 color print on Black Licorice French paper. 18" x 24"
Some words from Sonnenzimmer : "Thrill Jockey is a Chicago institution. The label, running since 1992, has almost single-handedly sculpted the outside worlds view of what Chicago independent music is all about. With releases by the local bands like Tortoise, Sea and Cake, and Califone, Thrill Jockey made room for an eclectic understanding of music and it's possibilities, not to mention their bold and brave releases from international acts. Needless to say, when we were asked to design and print a poster celebrating the label's 20th year of operation, we were elated. These kinds of career spanning tasks can be daunting, but this poster actually came kind of easy. Using the cover images of every Thrill Jockey release from 1992 to April, 2012 as raw material, we generated 4-color process separations. This colorful patch work acts as a visual overview of the Thrill Jockey's activity and our response to it."
Posters will be rolled in 40lb. Kraft Paper and shipped in heavy duty professional poster tubes.

Sonnenzimmer is the Chicago-based studio of Nick Butcher and Nadine Nakanishi. Merging backgrounds in typography, printmaking, graphic design and fine art, we create hand-crafted posters, books, and music packaging for a wide array of clients. We’ve had somewhat of an elastic existence in our 7 year history. Beginning as a shared painting studio, equipped with industrial screen printing equipment, the venture quickly morphed into a design and print studio specializing in hand-crafted prints and design for some of the city’s most recognized cultural institutions. As image making is becoming more and more present in commerce and enjoying a true revival in print making and painting, we hope our mixture of fine and applied art will be looked at as complimentary assets. That people understand they are not mutually exclusive. We are interested in idiosyncratic imagery. This is explored through many lenses of an ongoing practice – may it be of collaborative, experimental, or commercial nature.
