Arthur Jones Discography
Meet the Monster Team, a totally unremarkable crew of characters plodding through their daily routines. Watch as Caveman takes a bath, Wolfman orders a pizza, Creature of The Bleck Lagoon catches a bus and the Phantom of the Opera talks to his Mom on the phone. The Monster Team might be a bunch of super heroes or a group of wayward horror movie castoffs, it\'s hard to tell - and ultimately it really doesn\'t matter. They are obviously too lazy to save a kitten from a tree and too apathetic to scare the pants off of anyone. Over the course of five animated episodes and a sixth live-action short very little action occurs and even less adventure.
Arthur Jones is a Chicago-based illustrator, animator and designer. His design and illustration work includes promotional paint-by-number kits for the public radio program This American Life, advertising for Thrill Jockey, and art direction for Dirty Found magazine. He was nominated for Print Magazine\'s New Visual Artist Review in 2004 and received his BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1997.
The Monster Team was made in the winter, spring and summer of 2004. It took fifteen minutes to write the script, an afternoon to record the voices and about six months to draw and animate the final cartoon. Months later in February of 2005 a live action short was shot on 16mm black and white film in collaboration with Chicago filmmaker and designer Ben Olson. Filmmakers Jim Finn and Dean Dematties were the voices of Wolfman and Mummy respectively. Comedian Ben Johnson played Phantom of the Opera and Butchy Fuego played the Creature of the Bleck Lagoon. The DVD also contains a music video for the song \"Beach\" by Need New Body as an extra.
